Sign up NOW for Camp 525 - July 13 through July 18

Posted by robertgates on Jun 25 2020 - 5:37pm
The signup for Camp 525 is OPEN on the website.  CAMP 525 will be at Fort Yargo State Park in Winder, GA.  This will be Monday July 13 - Saturday July 18, 2020.  We need everyone to register now so we can order suppliers and arrange logistics.
On the details for the signup there is a tentative schedule for the week posted.
The merit badge offerings will be varied, and our plan is to accommodate as many requests as possible.  WHEN YOU REGISTER - please indicate the TOP 3 or 4 merit badges you would like to earn at Camp 525.  This will be a more open schedule than at WSR or Skymont as the group will be smaller.
More details are being developed.  We do plan to have campfires, maybe movie night, and a flag retirement.  Also we will be cooking and maybe bringing in some meals for dinners (like Chik Fil A and Pizza Night).  Also Friday afternoon would be the wide game of Capture the Flag.
There will be free time for fishing, playing mini-golf (fee), playing disc golf, riding the mountain bike trails (you would need to bring a bike), canoeing or kayaking on the lake, or just napping in your hammock.

Schedule Merit Badge selections - Camp 525 - ACTION NEEDED

Posted by robertgates on Jun 5 2020 - 6:10pm
ALL -
Below is the listing of planned / potential merit badges offered at Camp 525.  We have a possible list of 29 merit badges.  NOTE - If there is one a Scout is interested in and it is not on the list, let us know and we will see if that is feasible.
If Scouts indicated an interest for a merit badge in the sign-up comments, that is represented by the RED square.  Also, there are some other merit badges listed which we could offer.
Please review and advise of any updates, additions, corrections.  Scouts can sign up OR list up to 6 merit badges, and we will try to accommodate.  That is not required as they may want some free time to swim, ride bikes, play disc golf.
YOUR input is needed by FRIDAY 6/12/2020.  This way we can start setting up the basic schedule.  Send information to rgates8146@outlook.com
Some notes -
  • If Scouts are in the NEW SCOUT PROGRAM - part of their day will be working on Scout / Tenderfoot / Second Class / First Class requirements.  Also, we will have them in First Aid and Swimming merit badges.  If there is another MB or two, they may be interested in, please let us know
  • For some merit badges like Archery, Space Exploration, Leatherwork, and Basketry, we will need to get some specific supplies, so we will need to know in advance
  • Many of the merit badges will be partial, we will work to get as much completed as possible, but some items will not be completed
