Welcome to Troop 525's Website!


 

Welcome to the website of Troop 525 in Peachtree Corners, GA! Chartered with eight boys in August 1984 Troop 525 is boy-led and each is required to hold leadership positions as he advances in rank. The troop meets each Monday night, while school is in session, beginning at 7:30 PM at Simpsonwood United Methodist Church (SUMC) 4500 Jones Bridge Circle, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092. This site contains information for the scouts, parents, members and volunteers of our troop. Visitors are always welcome. Come join us!

Boys who are older than 10, or who have completed the fifth grade can join the Boy Scouting program.  Cub Scouting is for boys in the first through fifth grades, or 7 to 10 years of age. For information about Cub Scouts please contact Pack 525 (pack525cubmaster @ gwinnettbsa dot org).

SKYMONT pre-camp meeting is TUESDAY 6/26 at 6:30 pm at SUMC.  ALL Skymont attendees should plan to be there

 

SKYMONT departure is Sunday 7/8/18 from the Pickneyville MS parking lot

Be at Pinckneyville Parking lot by 8:00 am, fed, dressed in Class A uniform and ready to go.

 ALL BOY SCOUT AND ADULT LEADER PAPERWORK MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO DEPARTURE!

Medical Form Update Required for both camps

ALL of the below listed forms are REQUIRED for your son to attend camp this summer: 
 
1. Medical Form A 
2. Medical Form B (two different pages - we need both)
3. Medical Form C - signed by a doctor
4. last tetanus shot date or vaccine form from the doctor
5. A copy of the front and back of the insurance card 
 
Give Lisa three (3) copies of each of the above per person.  One goes to camp and two stay in the master file. 
Please don't email the forms.  Ensure they are completely filled out and signed.  At the camps they go over every single one and the Troop can't check in until all are validated as complete.
 
Bring them to the Swim Check this Saturday or drop them off at Lisa Whitlaw's house.

FOR WOODRUFF - All Scouts & Adults attending will need current parts A / B / C with a date AFTER 6/17/2017
 
FOR SKYMONT - All Scouts attending will need current parts A / B / C with a date AFTER 7/15/2017

For Philmont the A / B / C are the same but for reference there is a High Adventure risk advisory:

There is NO flexibility.  Without an updated medical form that individual doesn't leave the parking lot with the Troop. Camp will turn them back and not allow them to even check in.
 

 

Philmont Trek – UPDATE

Philmont Trek – UPDATE (now known as The Colorado adventure)
 
As some of you may be aware, due to the Ute Park fire in New Mexico, Philmont has cancelled all treks through mid-July.  This did impact our 2018 expedition that was scheduled to leave on 6/10 with arrival in Philmont on 6/12.  The advisors were notified on Monday 6/4 of the cancellation

Summer Camp Swim Check - REQUIRED FOR BOTH CAMPS

Please plan to attend the swim check Saturday June 9th.  It is a pretty quick process, we will start at 11am.  All Adults and Boys Scouts at camp in the water on on a boat have to complete it either before camp (20 minutes) or at camp (2 hours).
