Summer Camp Checklist

This is a suggested packing list for summer camp. 
Not every scout will use all of these things.

Clothing (name marked on each item)

q       Class A Uniform (Official Shirt, Official Shorts, Belt, socks) (no neckerchief or slide, No Nametag)  Be sure to have all the proper insignia.  Bring a clothes hanger to hang up the uniform shirt since you will have to wear it every day for dinner and flag ceremony.

q       Troop T-shirts (Red, Green, and Gray - or whatever the current colors are.)

q       3-5 other t-shirts

q       3-5 pairs of shorts

q       1 pair long pants

q       sweatshirt

q       wind breaker

q       2-3 pairs of shoes (tennis or hiking) - open toed shoes are NOT allowed in camp, except on whitewater rafting trips and the like

q       shower sandals

q       6 pr underwear

q       8-10 pairs of socks

q       1 or 2 swim suits

q       pajamas or equivalent

q       Rain Gear (A MUST!!! IT WILL RAIN SOMETIME DURING THE WEEK)

Bedding

q       Sleeping bag or bedding (generally sleep under or on top of a sheet, but need a sleeping bag or blanket for when it is cold at night)

q       Flat sheet for warm night.  Single bed size.

q       Pillow

Medical

q       Prescription medicine (provide written dispensing instructions).  Discuss with troop leader BEFORE departure.

q       Appropriate medical forms (Class 1, 2, and/or 3)

q      High adventure permission forms, if applicable.

Toiletries

q       2-3 bath towels

q       one beach towel if participating in aquatic activities

q       toothbrush with holder

q       shampoo

q       soap

q       comb or brush

Packing

q       Trunk that will keep contents dry and secure. Plastic "Bathtub" type is best.  It is good if it is low enough to go under a cot.  Should be strong enough to support being used as a chair, table, or ladder!

q       Combination lock for trunk (write down combination and provide to Adult in charge).  This is optional.  Leave valuables at home!

q       Bug proof snack container (filled with HEALTHY Snacks)

Advancement/Class Materials

q       Scout Handbook

q       Notebook, pen and pencils

q      Small Day pack

q       Prerequisite merit badge material. 

Other Items

q       Insect repellent (non aerosol)

q       Sunscreen

q       Sunglasses (optional)

q       Compass (rectangular Polaris type)

q       Camera and film (optional)

q       Alarm clock (optional)

q       Flashlight and extra batteries

q       Small mirror (optional)

q       Water bottle that can be clipped to belt or put in backpack

q       PLASTIC Coffee Mug.

q       Snacks (must be kept in sealed container)

q       Spending money ($25-35 for snacks and Souvenirs)   Talk with your scout about what he should or should not spend this on.

q       Laundry bag

q       Pocket knife - no large blades or sheath knives (optional)   Please talk with your scout about knives BEFORE he goes to camp, or he may come back with a $30 knife purchased from the trading post!

q       Totin Chip and Fireman's Chit

q    Folding camp chair (optional)

q     small rope hammock (optional)

q       Water shoes (optional) - may be needed for rafting trip

q       Fishing gear (optional)

q      Playing cards or other games (optional)

q      Frisbee (optional)

q      book to read (optional)
